One
of the problems that I saw during the recent GHC offensive was the
lack of GHC knowledge of the units participating. Few commanders
can go into battle not knowing WHAT forces are available to accomplish
the objectives, much less their size, composition and level of training.
In our area of
operations the 84th ARG reported in initially with 2 tanks and 5
inf while another unit spawning out of the same FB had ten times
our number. The great difference in unit sizes, compositions and
specialties caused a lot of confusion.
I have 2 suggestions
on how to counter that problem.
INITIAL STATUS
REPORT:
When you first show up on the battlefield and report to someone
from GHC, immediately report you size and composition so they know
if they are dealing with a small specialty squad like ARG or a massive
tank heavy brigade. e.g. "942nd Panzer reporting, 345 tanks,
85 Inf, 24 88s) That way your squad is much more likely to be handed
an assignment in keeping with their size and capability.
PREPLANNING BY
GHC:
GHC need to post information somewhere AHEAD of time so that people
who are going to participate in a GHC operation know WHO will be
the GHC commander in a given area and there needs to be a contact
email for that person. That way squads who are planning to participate
can contact the GHC commander ahead of time that will be working
in the area that unit intends to operate from.
Passing squad
information to the GHC contact PRIOR TO the operation so that commander
has some idea of what untis he will be working with should alleviate
some of the confusion we saw the other day. It will make the commanders
job much easier knowing what untis he will be working with and allows
ome preplanning and also make it much more liekly that your squad
or unit will be deployed in a way that makes the most effective
use of your capabilities.
